This site is an experiment in micro-site marketing and search engine optimization (SEO).

My wife's main web site, CrabbChiropractic.com, has been on the web now for over 3 years. In that time, it has indexed extremely well in Google and Yahoo for search phrases "chiropractors davenport ia or iowa, chiropractic davenport ia or iowa". I am very happy about this, especially since this area is the home of many chiropractors. Where the indexing misses the mark, however, is for search phrases like "chiropractors Quad Cities".

I didn't want to do anything to her main site that would alter the way that it currently indexes, so I built a new micro-site that only contains a portion of the content of the main site, and that is designed specifically to index well for searches like "chiropractors Quad Cities, Quad Cities chiropractors, Quad Cities chiropractor, chiropractors in the Quad Cities".

I have taken care to design a site in which the pages are tableless XHTML in structure, utilizing CSS for all style with minimal usage of graphics. All query based internal links are converted via Apache mod_rewrite to search engine friendly format, and the title, description, and keywords relate to text in h1-h4 tags or in other elements that are near the top of the page.

I put the site online on 10/09/08. As of 10/22/08, less than two weeks after the site was first put online, I declared the project a success. Most targeted search phrases result in first page listings in Google and Yahoo.
