The Quad City Camaro Club is a relatively new, but growing car club in the Iowa/Illinois Quad City area. The leadership of the club is very progressive in their approach to growing the club and to making the club more interesting and engaging for their members. I designed this site to be a way for the club to use the internet to attract new members, to draw public attention to their commitment to the community, and to give the members a place to communicate and exchange ideas daily.

The site has a few static pages to present the basic philosophy of the club, to provide some contact information for prospective members, and a downloadable member registration form. Inside the site, is a forum system based on phpBB2, with many modifications to tailor it to the car club. The biggest mods to the phpBB2 software that I used are a garage mod, event calendar, and photo galleries. I also added some modifications of my own, such as BBcodes for posting gallery and garage images in forum posts, and a script to display upcoming events from the event calendar on the portal page. This caused me to stretch out of my comfort zone, and learn some more PHP and SQL, but that is one of the fun aspects of designing something unique. It all works very well, and I hope that the members of the car club find it to be a valuable asset.
